Small Gear At OAR

At OAR we have a large (and increasing) variety of gear related to biking, hiking, camping, hunting, fishing and more.
Sitting at my computer as I write this, I can see day and multi-day packs, fishing poles and reels, fishing nets, bicycle helmets, climbing harnesses, climbing helmets and shoes and gloves, a full face motor cross helmet, gun holsters, tennis rackets, bows, rifle scabbard, dove decoys, boots, more boots, a tent, camp chairs, scope, lanterns, camp cookware, black powder bag, gps holders, headlamps, sleeping bags, bicycle locks, water jugs, water bottles, small coolers, reflective vests, sun glasses, canvas saddle bags, tree climbing ropes, ice skates, youth snowboard helmets and one lonely snowboard, waders, snow shoes, roller blades, life jackets, swim fins, small canoe paddle and one very awesome kayak.
We also have a wide variety of technical clothing (both warm weather and cold weather, because the weather in the mountains can change on a dime).
Mens and womens summer tops, work out shorts and quick-drying hiking shorts, nylon jackets for cool nights on the strip and insulated jackets for cold nights in the mountains, lined and unlined pants, hats and buffs and ear warmers and gloves, base layers, wool socks and tech socks, button down dress shirts by Salomon and fleece tops by The North Face.  The best selection of used camo clothing in town.
And lots more.
If it is in good to excellent condition and related to any activity that people like to do when they head into the out-of-doors, OAR will accept on consignment and try to find each piece a new home.
Some quick pictures of some of the small gear we have at OAR:

Honoring Our Heroes

OAR HONORS OUR HEROES

National Police Week (May 12-May 18)
Peace Officers Memorial Day (May 15)
Armed Forces Day (May 18)
Memorial Day (May 27)

We have family members who have served both in law enforcement and in the military.
We honor their service, and honor the service of ALL who keep us safe and free.
Throughout May current, ex and retired military and LEO's will receive 25% off all their purchases at OAR.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE

It's been a busy past week at the store in terms of folks consigning their gear with us.
Thank you to all those who have remembered OAR as they were doing their spring cleaning and clearing out their closets and garages.
We appreciate our consignors SO much!
A quick look at just some of the great gear that has come in recently:.

Hank Roberts stove and a Bianchi camo day pack.

Sunrise gun case scabbard and Trout and Goose fishing soft case

We've got three bows at the store right now - 2 Brownings and a Bear.
An Orvis fishing vest.
Tasco 4 x 32 scope (it's got a few scratches and is functional but has been well used) and an awesome leather belt

Dumb And Dumber

I picked up this pair of Bauer Vapor IX youth hockey skates a few days ago.
They are Size 7, in excellent shape, and a really great pair of skates.

A young man came into the store yesterday carrying a bow and soft shell bow case.
The bow is your basic issue Bear Magnum Hunter right handed compound bow.  It is in great condition and looks barely used.
He also brought in a really nice Cabela's bow case.
Both are on consignment and available for sale at OAR.
In our last blog entry I mentioned that a local professional photographer brought in two of her pictures this past week.
Nena Trapp has taken many wonderful pictures of areas throughout the western United States.
She displays her work at a photography studio here in town (and also maintains a website that displays and sells her work), so we are very lucky to have some of her pieces at OAR!
Thank you Nena for supporting our new business!

Examples of some of the really nice decorative items we have in one dedicated space at the store.
We have nature and wild life photography (including Nena's Yellowstone picture and a beautiful still life), metal and wood decorative items, and other interesting stuff you won't find just anywhere else in Cody.

OK.........my husband and I played "Dumb and Dumber" the other day.
I bought this clock (that says No Hunting - No Firearms, and has three "bullet holes" in it) at a yard sale while still living in Tennessee, and didn't realize until I got it home that it didn't work.
It was stored in a box for a couple of years, and when we opened the store here in Cody I hung it on the wall with full intentions of getting it working and then selling it.
Me and my bright ideas.
I bought a cheap clock at a yard sale a couple of days ago, pulled the hunting clock off the wall at the store and asked my husband to take the working mechanism from one clock and put it on the deer clock.
Uhhhh.......no.
He's a pretty handy guy, but within five minutes of pulling clocks apart (and scattering parts and pieces all across the counter) it became obvious that parts are not necessarily interchangeable and that my bright idea wasn't such a bright idea after all.
I'll just have to go buy new clock workings, and that's what I get for being so cheap.

Gorillas And Other Hunting Gear

A couple of days ago someone came into the store toting some awesome hunting gear.
I already had the Gorilla replacement tree stand cushion (above).
The Gorilla tree stand below is brand new - as in never-been-used brand new.
I forgot to ask the history behind these tree stand climbing straps, but they are in brand new condition.
We couldn't find much information online about this Browning Coyote cx9a compound bow.
It's an older bow and when we couldn't figure out how much it was worth, we took it to one of the local archery stores for more information.
We got a price on its resale value.
While we were at it, we also got a quote on how much it would cost to get a string rewound, because this bow needs it done.
It's a cheap fix.
A great and solid older bow, that comes with quiver and arrows.
We LOVE this Coleman Powerhouse Duel Fuel Lantern.
It has been used only once, comes with a hard plastic carry case, and is in excellent condition.

Great stuff keeps walking in the door, and we are grateful every day for the support we have received from the community.
Let your next adventure begin at OAR!

REMINDER
OAR is closing at 1pm tomorrow (Saturday March 16).
We hope to run into many people at the Beast Feast tomorrow afternoon!
